Highly readable, unlike many other academic treatises on empire. Davis has a really radical and unique perspective on Asian Pacific politics, social movements, and ecology. Highly recommended for anyone interested in this region or in the 'newest' social movements of the 21st century that are striving for egalitarianism and sovereignty.
