Good story of child sexual abuse

This book comes from a child's POV of trusting an adult who abused that trust. The way that feeling special becomes feeling uncomfortable and afraid. The feeling of isolation because of the possibility of no one believing you and no one having time to listen. That part was the strength of the book.
The ending had an unidentified helper that didn't quite give a realistic resolution to the situation. Who was that person? How did she help the child? How would a child know which adult is trustworthy?
I would have preferred if the author had said that it was the first step in healing and then mentioned what the next step in handling the abuse would be.
It could be a helpful book for opening the dialog hopefully between non-abusive parents with their children or other responsible adults, such as teachers, with children. Children need to know with whom they can share secrets like that.

Excellent story that needs to be read to all children and understood by all parents.

When I received my copy of this book, I couldn't help but tear up as I read it. This is an all too familiar short easy to read, easy to understand book which is more than common with children's feelings whom have been fondled and abused sexually. The perpetrator ALWAYS grooms a child then terrifies the child in order to gain control so the child will feel blamed. This book does have a sweet ending which is the way this topic should be handled but normally is not. This is a must read book for all parents and anyone who works with children. This is more common than people would like to ever imagine because they don't want to think that someone who loves and trusts is capable of sexual abuse. Please read this story to all children both girls and boys as my son was sexually abused at the age of 6 by a male friendly neighbor who also gained our families trust. Jori

Short review:
Although I love what this book sets out to do, and do recommend it, I felt the end was unrealistic. I'm blessed that I didn't experience this as a child, but have people in my family who have, and I know that this, and other abuse situations, just talking isn't the end. I wish the story talked about steps to not only talk about the situation, but also what happens next. I also wish she had talked to a relative, professional (Dr. or teacher perhaps?) or even a parent or friend's parent who can be trusted, and not a stranger who can be both dangerous and unhelpful at times.
