Scarlett and Sam Land in Biblical Times to Discover How Passover Came About

Scarlett and Sam are twins. Their Grandma Mina explains to them that all Jewish people are a part of the Passover story and Scarlett and Sam wonder why. Soon after they find themselves back in Bible times with Moses and Pharaoh in Egypt after flying there on a carpet. A lot of what they are used to does not apply in that day and age in Egypt, like YouTube and cell phones. They learn how hard it is to be a slave along with the other Hebrews and how they can barely rest before something else needs to get done.
This is actually a story that reads like a children's novel. Although parts of it are fiction, it is based on the true Passover story and it should really help children to be able to picture what life was like in Egypt before the Hebrews were able to leave there in Bible times. The drawings in the book show what Scarlett and Sam look like and their world before, during, and after they land in this Biblical story about the Passover. It can help children to understand what it might have been like if they were a part of Biblical history at that time, including what it felt like to be a slave, what it was like when the plagues happened, and most of all what is was like to be led into freedom.

Great book for a child to learn about the Passover story

I gave this book to my oldest grandson last year and he enjoyed it. This year I read it to his 6 year old brother during the first two days of Passover and we both enjoyed it and his older brother enjoyed listening to it too. I enjoyed the book as it is a fantasy, with the twin brother and sister traveling back in time on the special carpet that their grandmother brought from the Middle East that had been in her family for generations. Elementary school children will also find that kind of story appealing,
The author gives a good picture of what happened during the time of Moses, the plagues, and the escape from Egypt. The picture of the plagues is very clear, much more detailed than the haggadah and very clear for a child to understand. For example, the author wrote that when someone went to bed, s/he found dozens of frogs jumping out of the bed and when stepped on, they didn't just squish but actually exploded!
It is also fun to read together with lne's child.
