The two search their kingdom for the treats, but come up empty-handed. Returning to their castle, the exhausted Knight realizes that his cookies were on a table the whole time, and the two later set out for a new adventure. Like the rest of the books in the series, the large format serves as a perfect transition from picture books to easy readers. Lewin's artwork is sketch heavy and minimal with lots of negative space, which will help emerging readers focus. Her word choices include the difficult "KN" and "CL" phonic sounds, and there's a great repetition of words and concepts that will help reinforce what's learned. An adventure in your dreams. A cute I LIKE TO READ book that young early readers will surely enjoy. I am also looking forward to using this in my classes. There are some amazing applications that can be used...art projects...dreaming big...horses and knights. Fun, fun, fun!!! 4.5 stars

Knight and his horse tell each other goodnight and go to sleep. Knight has a strange dream that tells him to go find some golden cookies. So he wakes up horse and they search for the golden cookies. They look everywhere, but can't seem to find the cookies. They are very tired and decide to go home without them. And on the table are the cookies. After each eating one they tell each other goodnight and go back to sleep. Horse has a dream.
The vocabulary fits a level one or two reading level and the colorful illustrations help tell the story. The length, larger print, and vocabulary make this an excellent early reader. Children will love the humor that the author infused into the plot. Teachers will be able to implement this into a reading curriculum. Parents could use the book as a bedtime story since the plot includes sleeping.
