About the Author
As a historian and enthusiast, Eddie J. Creek has been actively collecting documents and photographs relative to the history of the Luftwaffe for over 30 years.
J. Richard Smith is undisputedly one of the world's foremost authorities on the history of the Luftwaffe. His works include the landmark publication Jet Planes of the Third Reich as well as Arado 234 Blitz, Luftwaffe Camouflage & Markings 1935-45, Me262 and numerous other leading aviation titles. He is a former specialist in the business training sector, having worked for a national telecommunications company.

Superb final volume on the FW 190

All the accolades given the first two volumes also apply to this third volume. Most of the photos are new, and the few I've seen before over the years are presented in better clarity and, more importantly, more accurate captioning information. Lots of surprises, or should I say shocks. The three volumes will not only make the best reading reference on the 190, but a pretty good investment. Years down the road there won't be too many willing sellers so don't miss out. So, Mr. Creek is there a remote chance we see a Volume 4 with any new information you've received after publishing the first three volumes?

these authors have produced the definitive four-volume set on the Me-262 and they do not disappoint here. the same very high level of research and attention to detail is to be found here as well.
This third volume includes some fascinating details I've never seen mentioned in any other book. one of the most interesting examples is a transcript from US Army Air Force analysts that suggest that the Fw-190A was actually superior in most respects as a fighting aircraft when compared to the Fw-190D. this is not something I've ever seen before.
there are a variety of experimental weapons that are explored that I hadn't seen before. notably the Panzerblitz, bouncing bombs, and aircraft mounted smoke and flame projectors. even a host of dead-end experimental versions are included. I never knew that a swept-wing variant of this fighter was produced until I read this volume.
scattered throughout are some nice pilot profiles of varying lengths. some are just a side-bar while others extend to four pages or so. it's always nice to see the men who flew the machines. they also delve into the Allied experiences with captured machines and flight-testing. (I wish there had been a little more of this)
the hundreds of photographs, line drawings, profiles, and detailed tables are a treat. it's also nice to see the various maps showing operational airfields and general lines of action during the war.
the authors also continue their study of the Fw-190 in the ground attack role. they also explore the interception tactics developed by various Luftwaffe pilots against Allied bombers.
I ordered this from a third-party vendor on Amazon because Amazon does not sell it at this time. I would encourage people interested in this book to buy it while it's still available. my suspicion is that, like their Me-262 volumes, that this will go out of print and end up being sold for hundreds of dollars in a few years. (I would much rather see it STAY IN PRINT than to witness people trying to sell a copy for a thousand dollars or more!)

You Think You Know Your Wulfs?

This third volume of the FW-190 story is as thorough and comprehensive as the first two. Besides hundreds of photos, detailed drawings and copious color plates, there are the stories of the pilots themselves and the battles over Germany in the later stages of the war. Included, also, are the "experimental" projects (sorry, no UFO's here but a number of very unusual designs) with as much factual information as available.
For any Luftwaffe "Experten", this book and it's companions are a must.
